Features of the Bamberg Series 5 Bass Module

Attention to every detail has been paid in the development of this speaker.

General
  • Compact design with modest floor footprint fits the decor of most rooms.
  • Pedestal shaped cabinets act as stable platforms with which to support the matching Bamberg monitors.
  • Cabinet height has been optimized to set the elevation of each monitors Reference Axis to 1 meter above the floor.
  • Heavy weight of the spiked woofer cabinet together with dual opposing side drones eliminates reactive cabinet motion. By reducing SPL compression this way the bass sounds tighter.
  • Active power increases electrical coupling of the woofer to the bass amplifier since there are no lossy passive crossover inductors between them. Again, tighter bass is the result.
  • Front mounted woofer reduces in-room time delay and improves phase alignment with the monitor.
  • Stereo woofers format allows for higher maximum SPL and lower distortion.
  • Stereo woofers eliminate any off center localization cues.
  • Stereo woofers can be run in phase quadrature, which smoothes in-room bass response for non-symmetric rooms, and enhances image size.
  • Stereo woofers allow moving the lower cross point up to 125Hz. This moves the monitor's pass band out of the room gain region. Perfect blending of bass and midrange is maintained regardless of room conditions.
  • Naturally flat response prevents the need for EQ or excessive amplifier power
Cabinet
  • Durable exterior finishes on fine veneers with matching genuine hardwood corners.
  • Moving the bass amplifier out of the cabinet allows for the full wood-grain rear panel to show in large rooms.
  • 1.5'' thick front and side panels (dual 3/4 MDF) supports the drivers better, reduces vibration, and adds to total cabinet weight.
  • Rear panel "spine" brace increases rigidity.
  • 100% stuffed extends low end response and optimizes damping.
  • Premium binding posts accept large or small spades, bare wire, and banana plugs.
  • Heavy cone spikes tighten bass and provide stability.

Power and Filtering
  • Versatile power and crossover filter options are available to facilitate bi-amping with your current stereo amplifier and speaker cables.
  • Full active tri-amp mode is possible with additional componentry and cabling. Direct Digital mode even allows bypassing of your existing DAC and preamp. (They are still used for analog mode for switching multiple sources, including CD with your DAC and preamp.)
